Day 24 of Women I Admire is Edith Cavell

Edith Cavell was a remarkable British woman who served as a nurse in World War 1. She cared for German and Belgians alike, disregarding their nationality when it came to caring for them. When the Germans accused her of helping British POWs escape, she admitted to the charges and was sentenced to death. Diplomats from multiple countries requested her sentence be communed, but the requests were ignored, and she was murdered by a German firing squad.
