THIS IS A QUESTION I GET ASKED quite often and it's a valid one. I think there is a huge misconception about live wedding painting and part of it is due to the industry still being relatively new, and honestly from Live Wedding Painters themselves. If you get on Tictok and watch live wedding paintings, most of them make it look like they're doing a fine art painting in the 4-6 hour span. In my opinion, this is deceptive, and puts a bad taste in the mouths of future couples.
There are a small handful of artists who can do this but they are a relatively small bunch. Most of us do NOT finish the painting at the wedding. 90-95% is finished (on my end) and another 4-6 hours of studio touchups are added post wedding (color matching, removing bugs that may have landed in the painting...gross...straightening lines...and overall spicing the painting up).
To show what I'm talking about, the painting I've posted is about what most live wedding paintings look like at the end of the evening. As you can see, there are more details that need to be added, but the overall integrity of painting it live and in person, is there.
I think I will post a live wedding painting in the future where I show each hour, that will hopefully give everyone an idea of the process, as it goes along.
