Still a work in progress, though the bulk of the detail is finished. I still have to do the wires connecting the telephone poles and other reflective work on the ground as well as the light. Thankfully it uploads the entire painting here. On my Facebook, people have to actually click on the image to view it, which is kind of annoying.
There's something about the back of the studio in this alley that I've always loved. Whether it's the way the sunrise breaks it in half where the sunbeam shoots down the middle of the road, or the dark glow of streetlights, I was inspired to paint it based off of Matthew Madson and the way he captures the mood of a scene. If you get a chance, you should really check his work out - he's definitely a master at his craft.
I finally settled on an evening painting and will be posting the work in progress shots here over the next few days.
This one was rough to do because I was going off a cell phone pic. Cell phone pics may look good on your cell phone, but when printed out, the resolution is generally very low. However, he liked it, his wife was thrilled, and that's all that mattered. The painting is in oil and is 22"x24"
